The O2

The challenge

As the preferred technology partner, NEC were called upon to deliver state-of-the-art technology for the London’s newest and most prestigious entertainment and sports complex, the O2 situated on the Greenwich peninsula. <Video>

The solution

For The O2, NEC implemented a fully converged IP Communications solution, which includes a single network infrastructure for all voice, data and IT communications throughout the venue, plus additional resilience, flexible network management, mobility and enhanced user information in the form of Unified Communication elements. <PDF>

The benefits

The solution provides flexibility, reliability and resilience, enabling users – whether fixed or temporary – to stay connected regardless of their location. As well as supporting the communications requirements of the O2’s 1,500, or so, permanent employees, the solution also has built-in hospitality features to cater for potentially high numbers of temporary visitors at specific events or occasions, including artists and their entourages.
